CHANGE WE NEED
October
24, 2008
There is a lot of talk in the campaigns this year about change.
Both candidates strongly purport change. Change can be good…and
change can be bad. It depends on what the change leads to…or
away from. One thing I know for sure, God does not change!
Numbers 23:19 states: “God is not a man, that he should lie,
nor a son of man, that he should change his mind.”
"I
the Lord do not change.” Malachi 3:6
Since the dawn of
creation, God has not changed His mind on marriage – one man and
one woman. Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.
For
this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united
to his wife,
and they will become one flesh. Genesis 2:24
Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept
pure,
for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.
Hebrews 13:4
God has not changed His
mind on life – it begins at conception. He is the Creator and
Author of life; therefore, we do not have the right to murder
innocent babies in the womb.
For
you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's
womb.
…your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me
were
written in your book before one of them came to be. Psalm
139:13, 16
God has not changed His
mind on who is the head of government. It is upon His shoulders
and it is time that we come out of the closet and stand up with
Jesus.
For
to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government
will be on his shoulders. Isaiah 9:6
God has not changed His
mind on how to effectively lead this nation or any other. It is
through righteousness. Politics is not a dirty word for
Christians. It is our obligation to get involved and we have
neglected our duty.
Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any
people. Proverbs 14:34
God has not changed His
mind on how He blesses a nation – through obedience. Not by
voting those into office that promise to give everyone a job,
and lower taxes and gas prices.
If
you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his
commands I give you today,
the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on
earth. All these blessings will come upon you and
accompany you if you obey the Lord your God…Deuteronomy 28:1-2
God has not changed His
mind on how this country was founded on His Biblical
principles. No matter how the liberals try to rewrite history,
the Truth will prevail for it is HIStory.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose
for his inheritance. Psalms 33:12
God has not changed His
mind on how the courts are to judge. He is the lawmaker and the
judges are to make rulings based on His justice…
Appoint
judges and officials…Do not pervert justice or show partiality.
Follow justice and justice alone, so that you may live and
possess the land the Lord your God is giving you.
Deuteronomy 16:18-20
God has not changed His
mind on work. The laborer is worth his wages. It is by working
hard and not by spreading the wealth around.
The laborer's appetite works for him; his hunger drives him on.
Proverbs 16:26
He who works his land will have abundant food,
but he who chases fantasies lacks judgment. Proverbs 12:11
God has not changed His
mind on the shedding of innocent blood. Key word is “innocent”
as in babies…
They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters,
whom they
sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was desecrated
by their blood. Psalm 106:38
God has not changed His
mind about hardened hearts…They do not have ears to hear. In
the words of King Jesus:
"You
will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever
seeing but never perceiving. For this people's heart has become
calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have
closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and
I would heal them.' Matthew 13:14-15
God has not changed His
mind about repentance. If my people will repent! Not the lost,
not the Democrats, not the Republicans, not the sexually
immoral, not the homosexuals, not the drug dealers. My people,
who are called by my name – that would be Jews and Christians!
…if
my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and
pray
and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I
hear from heaven
and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2
Chronicles 7:14-15
God has not changed His
mind about choice. We have a choice and He is the
answer...Choose life and the result will be His blessings!
See,
I set before you today life and prosperity, death and
destruction.
This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I
have set before you life and death,
blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your
children may live and that you may love the Lord your God,
listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. Deuteronomy 30:15,
19-20
God has not changed His
mind about submission. As the Body of Christ, we must submit to
His sovereignty, to His will. We must change our laughter to
mourning. We must repent for our apathy, our indifference. We
must repent of being so self-absorbed and going to church and
church activities but not being the Church.
Submit
yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee
from you.
Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands,
you sinners,
and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve,
mourn and wail.
Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
James 4:7-10
God has not changed His
mind about His Word. Have you? You either stand on His Word,
His truth or you reject Jesus for He is the Word in the
flesh…
In
the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the
Word was God.
He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were
made;
without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was
life, and that life was the light of men.
The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not
understood it. John 1:1-5
God has not changed His
mind on the gift of eternal life through His son Jesus Christ.
He is the way, the only way, the truth and the life…Not Allah,
not Buddha. No way, no how!
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
Yes, change is desperately
needed. We must be the change agent and turn back to God and
His ways. It starts with repentance – changed behavior. It
continues with not just going to church but being the Church!
It means getting involved in our communities, our cities, our
state and our great nation. It requires taking a bold stand and
voting for righteousness!
…choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve.
But as for me and my household, we will serve the
Lord." Joshua 24:15
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Hebrews 13:8
