"Abide in me, and I in you."
~John 15:4
If you abide in me...We do not use the word abide very much today. Have you ever asked someone "where do you abide?" Usually not, but you will ask someone where they live. Most would answer a house or an apartment. In the Greek, the word "abide" means to stay in a given place, relation or expectancy, it means to live, dwell or reside. Where you "abide" or live is a place you call home. It is a private place where you can escape the cares of the world and find rest. It is a place that reflects your personality, who you are, and where you keep your personal affects. You abide, you live, in a private place you call home.
Just like you abide or live in your home, do you abide in Jesus? Jesus said "if you abide in me." Do you live in Jesus? Do you abide with Him daily? Do you have a special place where you stay with Him? A place where you can relax and rest in His everlasting arms? A place all your own where you can let go and abide in Him?
If - do you?
You - not your neighbor, not your co-worker, not your spouse, but you!
Abide - live, dwell, reside, stay, make your home
In - inside, within, into - in Him
Me - Jesus, your savior, God, the lover of your soul
Have you invited Him into your home, into your heart to live and abide? If not, don't delay, ask Him in today. He wants to live in your heart today and He is waiting for you to abide in Him daily.
Prayer:
Father, thank you for your son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you that he sacrificed his life on the cross for my sin. That he paid the penalty. Your word says if I confess with my mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in my heart that God raised him from the dead, I will be saved. For it is with my heart that I believe and am justified, and it is with my mouth that I confess and am saved. I invite you to live in my heart today and I want to abide with you daily.
