SPIRITUAL VITAMIN DEVOTIONAL
"But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made."
~Luke 10:40
Some days, do you feel disconnected and distracted? Are your priorities out of focus? Are you so driven by your tasks and your "to do" lists that you lose focus on what is truly important? Women worry and fret over so many things. We allow the cares of the world to distract us from what is truly important. Like Martha, we are more concerned about the leg of lamb than the Lamb of God. We allow our work, a messy house, errands and church activities to drive us.right over the edge. We crash and burn and don't understand why.
Are you feeling guilty because you seldom read your Bible or even a daily devotional? Is your so called "quiet time" more of a hit and miss as you rush to the car and listen to bits and pieces of Christian radio to feed you everyday? Like Mary, Martha's sister, do not allow anyone or anything to distract you from time with the Lord.
Prayer:
Forgive me Lord, when I am distracted. I fear I am more like Martha Stewart and Martha of Bethany than Mary. I am more concerned about all the things that need to be done, than spending time with you. Forgive me when I have placed too much importance on my activities and not listening, learning and leaning on you.
Thank you Lord, that just like Martha, I can come to you with my demands and frustrations, and you will lovingly point my heart back to you. Give me an undivided heart that drives me to meet with you. Help me to be more like Mary and spend time sitting at your feet, listening to your every word. Let me gaze upon your beauty and seek your glorious face.
