SPIRITUAL VITAMIN DEVOTIONAL
"In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice, in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation."
~Psalm 5:3
It's Tuesday morning and the day has just begun. Already, so many have placed expectations on you along with the list of your own. Are your thoughts filled with all of the "things" that you must accomplish today? This week? Do you expect too much of yourself and of others?
The word "expectation" use to give feelings of anticipation, excitement and hope. Something to look forward to like a first date, the first day on a new job, your wedding day and of course, "expecting" your first child. Today, it reminds us of all the expectations we have placed on ourselves, instead of the One who can truly fulfill our expectations.
The word "expectation" in Psalm 5:3 implies, to lean forward, to look into the distance; to observe, to wait. The King James Version says, "in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up." Are you looking up with expectation and anticipation of how God wants to manifest Himself in your life? Are you expecting to meet with God today?
Prayer:
Lord, help me to be pregnant with anticipation and expectation to meet with you each morning. To wait with breathless anticipation as a new bride awaits her bridegroom. Let me awaken each day expecting to see you at work in my life. Let me "expect" to run into you at the office, the dry cleaners and the grocery store. Let me rise before dawn and put my hope in your word. Answer me, O LORD, out of the goodness of your love; in your great mercy turn to me and I will "look up" with expectation.
