LOVING GOD

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your stregnth. "
~Mark 12:30

Have you ever fallen in love with someone? How did you get to know the person? You spent time with them, learning all about them and hanging on to their every word. You anticipated every phone call and counted the hours before you could be together again. That is how we come to know God and love him.

So, how do you love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength? In my personal journey, I have learned that the problem is not God but us...God loves us. He proved this by sending his son to die for us. Scripture tells us "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him..." (2 Peter 1:3) We seem to be gaining head knowledge, but lack "heart" knowledge. He has given us everything we need pertaining to our lives through an intimate relationship with him. We fall short in knowing that the Creator of the universe is also the creator of our hearts, souls, minds and bodies.

To love him with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength means to love him with every breath we take, every thought and with all of our strength. It is giving him our whole being, not just the leftovers. We are to love him with all of our heart, even the hidden places that we do not allow others to see. We are to seek him with a whole heart, an undivided heart, a singleness of heart and mind. It is only then that you can truly come to know him. Do you know him as your savior? Do you know him as the Lord of your life? Have you given him control? Have you given him complete access into your heart, mind and your strength? Do you love him will your whole being?

Prayer:
Abba Father, I am overwhelmed with who you are and your love for me. Teach me to love you with all of my heart, my mind, my soul and my strength. Teach me to know you and give you all of me and not just the leftovers. I give you access into every area of my life.
